Yes and no. We offer Backcountry Foodie meals without gluten containing ingredients. However, our kitchen is not certified gluten-free.

Gluten-free Backcountry Foodie meals cannot be assumed to be safe for those with severe gluten-intolerances like celiac disease. While we do everything we can to prevent cross contamination, meals are prepared using equipment shared with gluten-containing products.

Please note that all of our products are produced in a facility that processes peanuts, milk, soy, wheat, gluten, egg, and tree nut ingredients.

We take extensive measures to segregate ingredients according to allergen program standards and rigorously clean our equipment, but there remains a very small risk of cross-contamination given the shared facility.

Please contact our customer service department with any further questions regarding our meals at support@backcountryfoodie.com or the Contact Us form below.

Backcountry Foodie meals are made up of a combination of freeze-dried and dehydrated ingredients. This combination allows us to be creative and flexible with our recipes while still providing you with a lightweight, nutritous meal.

Yes, freeze-dried and dehydrated meals are generally TSA friendly. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) allows both dry and solid food items in carry-on and checked baggage, including freeze-dried meals. However, it is always a good idea to check with your airline or the TSA website for any specific restrictions or guidelines that may apply.
